Dear Ray

Image
Dear Ray, We have known each other for over twenty years. Now I try to hold back my tears. You have always been there for us through the good and the bad. I was a kid then and now I'm a dad. You have brought us to many places near and far. I will always remember you as my first car. I gave you the name Ray back in grade two. Also because my favourite colour is blue.  You know my son. You know his great grandparents. You drove four different generations of our family. You kept us cool during the hot summer days of going to baseball games and practices. You warmed us up during the cold winter days of going to and from church. We had a few close calls but we've made it through. We wouldn't be here today if it weren't for you. Now I wonder... How many times did you bring us to: CC? / That area for baseball / Robinson's house Delta? Superstore? What I do know is it is time for us to move on. Thank you for these past twenty years. We already miss you. Love, Mic

Mi segundo torneo de ajedrez

Image

All the Wrong Moves

Image
There seems to be a stereotype of chess players being extreme nerds or feeling hopeless and depressed. Some see them as losers who fascinate over moving plastic (or wooden) pieces on a board. A lot of them are really intelligent and there are many studies showing that Chess helps in other areas of life. Of course, as with everything else, one has to have a balance in life... Again, I've been meaning to post for awhile now. I just happened to find an opportune time to write and publish this. I'm hoping to regulate my posts, perhaps sharing content every Saturday. This was the first book that I read and completed on my new Kindle. I was gifted a Kindle for Father's Day. I really like using it even though I consider myself a more traditional reader, liking the feel of a physical book in my hands. Though nowadays, I mainly read in the evening when I go to bed, which is relatively early around 9:30PM. I appreciate the lighting and brightness settings of the Kindle as I try to av...

El Ajedrez

Image

A tribute to our Nintendo DS Lites

Image
'   I believe I got my blue DS lite when I was in grade 6. I don't remember if my father bought it for me or how I got it.  This blog post is a tribute to our Nintendo DS Lites, the gray one being my cousin's. Both of these were stored in a cabinet for the longest time. I can't remember why I asked my cousin for his DS back then. I sold them recently as I work towards minimalism and getting rid of my previous material from hoarding. This post is so that I remember my days and time with my Cobalt DS Lite. This portable handheld gaming device was revolutionary at the time because you could play in the dark, adjust the brightness, the volume, and it didn't run on AA batteries. All of these conveniences meant that it was easier to access and discreetly play anywhere. This is where the job of the parent to monitor their kid's activities came into play. Although, this was so new that some parents didn't know how to react. I remember around this time was when peopl...

Twitter / X

Image
A man of few words... on Twitter... or X? Seems like a decent combination. I created my Twitter account in January of 2013, so more than 10 years ago now. I probably made it to fit in with the crowd and follow the birth of the social media trends. I don't remember all my usernames, but the few that I remember are "micfreshh", "iancruz" , "midoublec" and finally, "saboramic." In fact, this may be my second Twitter account - I might have deleted my first account for the same reasons that I am choosing to delete this account. I know I did that with my original Instagram account. I've had my current Instagram account deactivated for about a year now. I never was one to try to too hard to accumulate followers. I also never understood how some people could follow so many other people. Though I did unfollow a lot of people who I found not beneficial to follow. There were a lot of "subtweets" that occurred during highschool. These were ...
