My Latest Semester

...................
From September 2016 to December 2016 I enrolled in my third semester at Langara. This was following the summer semester and the spring semester. Originally I was planning on taking three courses, but mi madre pushed me to take one more, so I added on the second course of Spanish. Alongside work, school was a daily challenge to keep up with, but I managed to pull through and I believe that I passed all my courses. I enjoyed my courses for the most part (aside from Marketing.. more on that in a bit), though I feel like I did not truly 'learn' as well as I could have. Thus I plan to take only three courses next term and really get into the habit of good studying and review.

SPAN  (80% B+)
Laura Vass. What an amazing teacher. Ella es muy simpatica y inteligente. She was the first college professor that I had, and I'm a little sad that I won't be taking any more courses of hers.

In regards to the course, it was definitely vamped up compared to the first Spanish course offered at Langara. This one focused more on grammar in different tenses which include: el preterito, el imperfecto, past perfect, present perfect, conditional, future tense, and subjunctive. Although I was one of the smarter students in the class, I only ended up with a B+. Considering that I didn't spend as much time into the course as I did the first term, I'm content with my mark.

Wow, this was definitely a different class than I was accustomed to. First and foremost I was one of the only students who didn't have a Chinese background. I didn't mind, but when it came to writing and especially Kanji, I felt like I was at a disadvantage. 南先生(Minami Sensei) is a very kind woman and she was very receptive towards me. On day one of the class I wrote that I can be kind of slow at learning, and she respected that. Although I wanted to push myself harder and be smarter than the kids who got it easy 'just like that', I just couldn't will myself to. I keep blaming time, but perhaps I could have managed my time better?

MARK (75%)
David Amos. He's an interesting character to say the least. I didn't really learn much from him. I got the impression that he just took the right steps to get to where he is. When it comes to teaching.. he doesn't really teach. He could be a little bit of a snob, but hey at least he favored me for whatever reason.
On day one he said that this class would be hard and that he never failed students, they failed themselves. Although I noticed throughout the term that he marks unnecessarily hard. He also gives off the "I'm better than you" impression, and the vibe he gives off is very discouraging.

In terms of the class itself and Marketing, it was only an intro class. I already knew a lot of the information within the course and I found that the course was mostly giving names to terms and concepts. Aside from that, I applied plenty of concepts to my current part-time job at Save-On. It really helped with my learning as I enjoy practical learning.

ENGL (N/A atm)
My professor for this class was Jacqueline Weal. She is an exceptionally comprehensive woman with a feel for history in literature. Therefore I felt as if this class was more than an English class as we learned what artists and author's pasts were like and what prompted them to create the works that they did. I was really intrigued by the Poetry section of this class. It really got me going again on wanting to make music and write. I was heavily involved in participating in class when it came to reading out loud and analyzing poems. I am more than excited to be taking Creative Writing: Poetry next term.

====
I did practice a lot of other things this past semester. I did happen to get close to all of my teachers (without being a suck-up). I also made a few more friends through classes, got some Facebook Friend Requests, and Snapchat Friends. Lastly, I also built up my confidence again.

Before, I was a cocky kid in highschool (Grade 9), when I had a girlfriend. The only problem was  my confidence relied on the factor that I had a girlfriend, because I felt that I had it all.

Compared to now, where I spent this whole past year trying to find myself. Now I'm confident with myself because I know I'm a very capable human being.

~~Anyways getting into a tangent, I learned a great amount this semester, and I am happy with everything that happened. I look forward to next semester, and I am more than satisfied that I am going to college, as I believe it is currently the right place for me to be.
