Jan 31        It's been awhile since I last wrote in my blog. I thought I would talk of my history as a reader. I could consider myself a good reader.. when I want to be one. Every kid is "forced" to start reading at about grade one. At first I didn't enjoy reading at all, not even the simplest books. I feel as if I didn't get a kick out of it. I also read very very slow and barely understood what I was reading. Compared to the other kids, I felt like I wasn't going anywhere. Then my mom put me in a reading program at school. It really helped me and got me to enjoy reading. The instructors would read along with us and make sure we're all on the right track as to where the stories were going. It even made me read on my spare time!        When I hit about grade 3, we were required to write reading logs for every time we read. November 26-28 p.1-135 Part One: Ashes          It turns out there really is a District 13. This is the new home of Katniss, Gale, and survivors from the bombing of District 12. Everyone in District 13 plans to overthrow the Capitol and rebel, except Katniss. In fact she's not quite sure what she should do and who she can trust. One known fact is that Katniss wants Peeta alive and safe, knowing he's being held hostage by the Capitol. Her character shows definite signs that she misses him. It excites me reading this final book of the series, as it still keeps the action going. Like all happy endings, I predict that somehow Katniss and Peeta will be with each other again. The star crossed lovers from District 12 will marry each other after a crazy series of events. November 29-30 p.137-261 Part Two: The Assault    In the beginning of Part Two, the rebels rescue Peeta.      The finals we've all been waiting for will happen this year. The Los Angeles Lakers will take on the defending champions, the Miami Heat: Kobe Bryant vs. Lebron James. This seven game series will settle once and for all who the best team and player are currently in the NBA.      The main reason the Lakers will win is because of their ability to score. They have various players who can get the ball into the basket. They have twin towers who cannot be matched in Pau Gasol, and in recently signed Dwight Howard. They also have the most intimidating player in the league named Metta World Peace, formally Ron Artest. One of the best point guards in the game, Canadian Steve Nash can set anyone up with an easy basket. And of course, Kobe Bryant, who has the best footwork in the game, and in my opinion, is still the best player in the league.      The Heat also have new additions. November 17-19 p.1-135 Part One: The Spark     As I look to continue completing my Accelerated Reader, I begin reading the second book of the "Hunger Games" series, "Catching Fire." Katniss and Peeta, (AKA the star crossed lovers from District 12,) return home from the brutal Capitol torture known as the Hunger Games. As one would expect from winning, they'd be showered with riches and fortunes for their families and District, and all would be happy. This was not exactly the case, as Katniss, the protaganist, causes uprisings and anger from her performance in the Games. Once she denies her love for Peeta, she second guesses herself into really loving her best friend Gale, who she has known since she was a child. Katniss is overwhelmed with all that is happening, and on what decisions to make. I can't wait to find out on how she reacts to all the tension surrounding her and her loved ones.
